I started to post this yesterday morning shortly after arriving at work, but I got busy with other things, and I was never able to return and complete the post to the site.

I found this article yesterday which talks about Apples concern over the new Palm Pre phone and how Apple is talking about filing suit against Palm for Patent Infringement, which wouldn't be the first time Apple has made this kind of threat.

It's not as if Apple has never been accused of violating a patent or two with the iPhone.

Apparently, what has their panties in such a bind, is the fact that people are saying that not only does the Palm Pre do a lot of things the iPhone does, they are also saying that it does those things better than the iPhone.

Here's what apples Tim Cook had to say on the subject:

We like competition--as long as our competitors don't rip off our IP. And we're going to go after anyone who does. I'm not talking about any particular company, but we are ready to suit up and go against anyone. We will not stand for having our IP ripped off, and we will use every weapon at our disposal...

Meanwhile, this morning I found this article over at MobileBurn in which they announce that Apple has indeed been awarded a patent for it's multi-touch technology. OMFG, how fucking convenient.

Whatever. To think that the iPhone is the be all and end all of cell phone technology is ridiculous, and to think that Apple is the only company that has to right to innovation is even more ridiculous.
