As a follow up to yesterday's post on Windows 7, InformationWeek.com has posted an article about Microsoft's' has announcement that the limited number of downloads for Windows 7 has been lifted. Microsoft officials had this to say:

"Due to an enormous surge in demand, the download experience was not ideal so we listened and took the necessary steps to ensure a good experience," Microsoft Windows communications manager Brandon LeBlanc wrote in a blog post Saturday.

"We have clearly heard that many of you want to check out the Windows 7 Beta and, as a result, we have decided to remove the initial 2.5 million limit on the public beta for the next two weeks," wrote LeBlanc, who said the limitless download period would extend through Jan. 24.

"During that time you will have access to the beta even if the download number exceeds 2.5 million," LeBlanc added.

In addition to the article, some screenshots have been posted here.

Wireless Porn? $9.95 A Month? PDF Print E-mail

I found this article over at Gizmodo this morning and I thought it was too good to pass on. Not that I would ever use something like this, but I know a few people who might. The text below is taken from their site:

The FyreTV system, which just went out of beta this past month, has a Wi-Fi version of their set-top-box with the same DVD-quality porn streaming for the same $9.95 monthly subscription. Here's their thought process. Lots of people like watching porn in the bedroom; their previous FyreTV box is only Ethernet-enabled, with no dongle option; not a lot of people have Ethernet wiring in the bedroom. Thus, the wireless FyreTV is born.

With features like wireless b & g and HDMI, S-video, Component and Composite outputs you should be able to hook it up to just about anything.

This might not be a bad addition to any Road Warriors traveling gear, seeing as how just about every major hotel offers free wireless, there would be no need to explain any questionable room charges for watching porn on the hotels TV...not that I have ever done anything like that.

Windows 7 Beta Customer Preview PDF Print E-mail

Not sure if anyone is really interested in this, but I thought I would go ahead and post it. Microsoft recently anounced that the Windows 7 Open Beta Program is now open to everyone, well, to at least the first 2.5 Million people that are able to download it.

I have seen some screenshots and it looks just like Vista, but in some recent articles (1 2 3 ) there has been alot of talk about speed increases over vista and some interesting new features.

I have already download the beta that was leaked awhile back, but I haven't been in any rush to install it. Currently I dual boot between Windows XP SP3 and Ubuntu 8.10. I may break down and by a bigger hard drive for one of my laptops and try it there first, and maybe triple boot, but I am in no big hurry. Who knows, maybe if the drive is big enough I may even give this a try.

New MP3 Player Added To Website PDF Print E-mail

Work on the website continues. I decided to add an MP3 player to the website today. The Wimpy MP3 player is a very solid MP3 player that allows for all kinds of customization.

I have uploaded a bunch of music from my current Pandora station, I am always adding music to my Pandora channel. So, when I find a new band that I like I will add some of their music to the Wimpy playlist as well.

I have been to a lot of websites that have an embedded MP3 player in their page, and I always thought it was kind of a nuisance when those players started to play music automatically.

That will not be the case here. The Wimpy MP3 player is located on the bottom of the left side of the page and it will only start to play when you click the Play button. I hope that you will hear something you like.
